KU-CU notes

On the run: KU’s five rushing touchdowns Sept. 27 against Missouri were the Jayhawks’ highest total in a Big 12 game since Kansas scored six TDs against Baylor in 1999 — a string of 41 games.

Lights out: KU has scored 35 or more points in four straight games (46 vs. UNLV, 42 at Wyoming, 41 vs. Jacksonville State and 35 against Missouri). KU has never scored 35 or more points in five straight games. Last year, KU scored that many points twice in 12 games.

Streaks: KU is looking to extend its winning streak to five games. … Two-time Big 12 North champ Colorado has lost three in a row. … The team with the most rushing yards has won the last 10 games in the series. CU averages 2.26 yards per carry.

Folsom Field factor: CU has won 16 of its last 19 games against Kansas at home.

Sack stats: KU’s offensive line has allowed two sacks in five games. Colorado’s defense has five in five games. KU’s defense has 12. Linebacker Brandon Perkins leads the Jayhawks with four.

Family ties: Colorado cornerback Phil Jackson is the cousin of former KU basketball player B.J. Williams.

Toomey on top: It will be hard for anyone to catch sophomore linebacker Gabriel Toomey for KU’s team lead in tackling. Toomey has 60. Fellow sophomore linebacker Nick Reid is second with 45.

Bad sign: Colorado’s coaching staff hasn’t awarded a defensive player of the week honor once during the team’s three-game skid. Colorado also hasn’t named an offensive player the last two games and hasn’t picked a special-teams player in two of the last three games.

Rough road: Colorado’s schedule was ranked the second toughest in the nation. Four other Big 12 teams — Texas A&M (first), Iowa State (third), Texas (10th) and Kansas State (17th) are in the top 20. KU and Baylor are tied for 31st.

Kicking woes: Colorado’s Mason Crosby has made 2-of-2 field-goal attempts, while Kevin Eberhart is 0-for-2. Crosby is 12-of-16 on extra-point attempts, while Eberhart made his only attempt. … KU’s Johnny Beck is 4-of-8 on field-goal attempts and 20-of-22 on extra points.
