Woodling whacked by 51 fans

By J-W Staff Reports     Oct 19, 2004

Journal-World sports editor Chuck Woodling rebounded from last week’s 3-3 record in KUsports.com’s “Wanna Whack Woodling?” contest with a 5-1 record this week.

Woodling missed just Texas A&M’s victory over Oklahoma State, but that error allowed 51 participants to beat him with perfect 6-0 records. One hundred forty-three entries tied Woodling’s 5-1 mark.

Chad Dick of Baldwin won last week’s contest, winning the tiebreaker with a predicted score of Texas 24, Missouri 20, just four points off the actual final score. Dick will receive a KUsports.com T-shirt for his victory.

Woodling whacked by 25

All the Big 12 North turmoil last weekend may not have affected Kansas University’s football team, but it did have an effect on kusports.com’s Wanna Whack Woodling contest.

Journal-World sports editor Chuck Woodling went 8-3, missing Colorado’s victory over Washington State and home losses by Nebraska and Kansas State.

Erik Rytting of Lawrence won last week’s contest. Rytting tied Chris Kennedy of Olathe at 10-1, but Rytting came closer, in the loosest sense of the term, to the final score of the KU-Toledo game with a guess of a 34-21 KU victory. Rytting will receive a “We Whacked Woodling” T-shirt for his win.

Twenty-five participants defeated Woodling’s 8-3 record by a game, and 63 entries tied his mark.
