Columbia, Mo. ? Freshman Janaina Correa’s 23 kills and 10 digs were not enough as Kansas University fell to Missouri, 3-2, in volleyball Wednesday at Hearnes Center.
The Tigers (11-3 overall, 3-1 Big 12 Conference) beat the Jayhawks, 30-16, 31-33, 28-30, 30-26, 10-15.
KU’s Sarah Rome contributed 20 kills and 16 digs, while Andi Rozum, in her second start, had 50 assists. Libero Jill Dorsey led the KU defense with 21 digs.
KU hitters exploded in game five, leading the Jayhawks to a 6-1 advantage. But MU scored five unanswered points to take an 11-8 lead.
Rome added two more kills, but the Tigers prevailed to win the match.
KU (10-5, 2-2) travels to Lubbock, Texas, Saturday for a 7 p.m. match against Texas Tech.
