Kansas University basketball signee J.R. Giddens has been named to the Global Games Select Team, which will compete against international competition June 29-July 5 at Southern Methodist University’s Moody Coliseum in Dallas.
Giddens, a 6-foot-5, 185-pounder from Oklahoma City, will be joined on the U.S. men’s 21 and under team by fellow prep All-Americans Mustafa Shakur and Aaron Brooks, plus Texas standouts Warren Carter, Jeremis Smith, LaMarcus Aldridge and Dez Willingham, who is headed to Kansas State.

The U.S. team will compete against Brazil, Yugoslavia, Canada, Puerto Rico, Lithuania, Ukraine and teams from Africa and Scandinavia.
The 2002 Global Games Select Team — the only United States team to win a gold medal in international basketball competition in 2002 — featured ACC freshman of the year Chris Bosh of Georgia Tech, Big Ten freshman of the year Daniel Horton, Big 12 frosh of the year Antoine Wright, plus Arizona State’s Ike Diogu.

Point guard lkes KU: Sean Singletary, a 5-11 senior-to-be from Philadelphia, Pa., says Kansas and Virginia top his list of prospective colleges.
“I plan on taking a visit to one of those schools within the next two weeks, but I haven’t decided what school I will visit,” Singletary told Shay Wildeboor of rivals.com. Singletary, rivals’ No. 11-rated player in the Class of 2004, also is considering Ohio State, Rutgers and Indiana.
