Nashville, Tenn. ? The No. 17 Kansas University baseball team started Saturday with a bang, scoring five first-inning runs in a 10-4 victory against Lipscomb in the Music City Challenge.
Ryan Baty and Kevin Wheeler started the Jayhawks’ barrage in the first with back-to-back home runs. Matt Tribble followed with a double, then Casey Spanish blasted a homer.
Three Bison errors led to two Jayhawk runs in the fourth, padding KU’s lead. Jake Kauzlarich added a two-run homer in the seventh.
Pat Holmes picked up his second win for the Jayhawks (12-4), allowing four runs on three hits and striking out one in five innings.
KU will play Vanderbilt at 1 p.m. today.
