Kansas University’s swimming and diving team handed out its postseason awards at its annual postseason banquet Sunday at the Springhill Suites.
Senior Amy Gruber was named the Tammy Thomas MVP for the 2004-05 season. Senior Miranda Isaac received the Karen Dionne award for the most inspirational member of the swimming and diving team. Senior Aly Colver was given the Academic Award for her excellence in the classroom. The Newcomer of the Year award was given to freshman Terri Schramka.
Coach Clark Campbell also announced juniors Gina Gnatzig and Emily Rusch would serve as team captains during the 2005-06 season.
The Kansas University swimming and diving team received an Adademic All-America honor by registering an overall grade-point average of 3.35, 15th among Division One institutions and and fifth among D-I public schools. The awards were given out Friday by the College Swimming Coaches Assn. of America.
Individual academic honors were garnered by sophomore Amy Gruber, seniors Gwen Haley and Beth Schryer, and sophomore Aly Colver. Gruber was named Academic All-America, and Haley, Schryer and Colver earned honorable-mention status.
