After back-to-back tough losses, Nick Collison and Kirk Hinrich — KU’s two preseason All Americans — led the Jayhawks to a three-point victory over the No. 3-ranked Longhorns.

The senior forward finished with 24 points and 23 boards, the most by a single player during the Roy Williams era, before fouling out with less than two minutes remaining.

Hinrich finished with a team-high 25 points, including 8-of-11 shooting from the free-throw line. Aaron Miles scored 15 points, dished out nine assists and grabbed five rebounds. He turned the ball over just once. Keith Langford added 10 points.

T.J. Ford led Texas with 25 points, and added 10 assists and seven rebounds. Brian Boddicker scored 20 points — 18 on three-pointers -. Brandon Mouton added 14 points, and Jason Thomas had 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Kansas shot 47.1 percent (32-of-68) from the field, and Texas hit 42.9 percent (30-of-70). Both teams went 20-of-28 from the free throw line.
