Kansas drops baseball opener

? Hawaii-Hilo spoiled Kansas University’s baseball season-opener Friday night by scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth for an 8-7 victory.

Sean Flynn hit an RBI single in the top of ninth, driving in Matt Tribble and giving KU a short-lived 7-6 lead.

Don Czyz suffered the loss for KU. Tribble went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs, Ryan Baty belted a two-run home run, and Ritchie Price was 3-for-4 with a double.

The second game of Friday night’s doubleheader was still in progress at press time.

The teams are scheduled to play another doubleheader today.
