Kansas men lose to Colorado, 60-59

The 27-game losing streak is over for the Buffaloes. Stephane Pelle hit a basket with 25 seconds left, giving Colorado the lead, and the Jayhawks missed two last-second attempts. Colorado fans stormed the court at Coors Events Conference Center after Kirk Hinrich’s final shot didn’t fall.

Nick Collison led Kansas (13-4 overall, 3-1 Big 12) with 16 points and seven rebounds. Keith Langford had 14 points and seven boards, and Kirk Hinrich had 10 points.

Pelle had a game-high 27 points, and Michel Morandais added 17 for the Buffaloes (12-5, 2-2). Colorado hit 47.9 percent of its shots, and outrebounded Kansas, 38-33.

Kansas struggled from the field the entire game, shooting just 35.1 percent in the first half and 32.8 percent for the game. The Jayhawks were 4-of-15 from behind the three-point arc.

HALFTIME REPORT
The Buffaloes have fought the Jayhawks tooth and nail in the first half, holding a lead three times, but trail by three at the break.

Keith Langford leads the Jayhawks with 10 points, and Nick Collison has eight. Kirk Hinrich has five points, Aaron Miles and Bryant Nash each have three, and Jeff Graves, Michael Lee and Moulaye Niang each have a basket.

Stephane Pele leads Colorado with 12 points, two more than his season average, and Michel Morandais has 10 points and six rebounds. Colorado center David Harrison, who has two points and five rebounds, left late in the game with an apparent back injury.

Kansas is just 13-of-37 (35.1 percent) from the field, compared to 52 percent shooting (13-of-25) from the floor for Colorado. The Jayhawks struggled from behind the three-point arc, hitting just two of eight attempts.

The Buffaloes outrebounded the Jayhawks, 20-15, but turned the ball over 14 times.
