Lineman opts for KU

Chuck Jones, a 6-foot-4, 275-pound defensive lineman from Pasadena (Calif.) City College, plans to continue his football career at Kansas University.

Jones, an all-conference selection who recorded 76 tackles last season, picked KU on Tuesday over Nevada-Las Vegas and Arizona, he told Jon Kirby of rivals.com.

“I am done taking trips,” Jones told Kirby. “Kansas showed me more attention, and I think I will be able to concentrate on what I need to do at Kansas.”

Jones played several positions along the defensive line at Pasadena.

“He runs very well and uses his hands well,” Tom Maher, Pasadena City College coach, said. “He has a good motor. … He was second on our team in defensive points. The last two seasons we were 10-1 and 8-3, and he was a big part of those defenses. He’ll be a good player on the next level.”
