Helped by six of the top 11 teams losing Saturday, the Jayhawks have jumped six spots to No. 6 in the latest AP Top 25 poll. Kansas (13-3 overall, 3-0 Big 12) received more than 500 more votes than last week.
Then-No. 1 Duke, No. 6 Connecticut, No. 8 Illinois, No. 9 Alabama, No. 10 Notre Dame and No. 11 Missouri each lost Saturday. Arizona, which will play Kansas on Saturday in Allen Fieldhouse, is now No. 1 with 67 of 72 first-place votes.
The rest of the top 10 is as follows: Pittsburgh, Duke, Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Louisville and Creighton. Oklahoma (11-3, 2-1) dropped just two spots after losing to Oklahoma State last Monday and defeating Iowa State, 70-60, on Saturday.
No. 13 Oklahoma State, which was ranked 24 last week, had the biggest jump in the poll after topping both Oklahoma and Missouri. The Tigers (10-3, 1-1) tied Illinois for the biggest drop, falling to No. 21. Texas Tech was the only other Big 12 team to receive votes.
