The Jayhawks took 16 more shots than the Buffaloes, but made five fewer in a 21-point loss at Allen Fieldhouse. Kansas has now lost 20 straight Big 12 games.
Colorado hit 58.7 percent (27 of 46) from the floor, while the Jayhawks shot 35.5 percent (22 of 62).
“We were rushing a lot of shots,” Kansas coach Marian Washington said. “We were just hurrying everything. When you have shots that should go down and they don’t … you lose a lot of steam, you lose a lot of momentum.”
Colorado had three players score in double figures, led by Kate Fagan’s 22 points – 18 on 6-of-8 shooting from behind the three-point arc. Tera Bjorklund added 12, and Amber Metoyer scored 11 for the Buffaloes (13-2 overall, 3-1 Big 12).
Tamara Ransburg led Kansas (7-8, 0-4) with 13 points and nine rebounds. Blair Waltz was next with eight points, and Crystal Kemp and Aquanita Burras each scored seven for the Jayhawks.
“We’re still working to get five players out there all on the same page,” Washington said.
Kansas committed five fewer turnovers than Colorado, 22-17, but the Jayhawks were outscored after the miscues by the Buffaloes, 16-13. Colorado also outrebounded Kansas, 37-28, and had a 21-8 advantage in assists.
