A quartet of former Jayhawks will have their jerseys retired during halftime of Wednesdsay’s men’s basketball game between Kansas and Wyoming at Allen Fieldhouse, KU officials announced today.
Along with Tus Ackerman, Gale Gordon, Al Peterson and Fred Pralle, who will be honored Wednesday, seven other former Kansas basketball players will have their jerseys retired this season – five men and two women. These players are Angela Aycock, Tamecka Dixon, Howard Engleman, Drew Gooden, Raef LaFrentz, Paul Pierce, Jo Jo White.
The criteria to have a jersey retired were expanded prior to this season to include consensus first-team All-Americans, two-time first-team All-America selections and Academic All-American of the Year recipients. The original criteria for a retired jersey included being named college basketball player of the year, most valuable player of the NCAA Tournament or a four-time All-American.
Below are the jersey retirement dates for the former members of the men’s team. The dates for honoring Aycock and Dixon have yet to be determined.
