KU claims three events at Kansas State meet

? Kansas University’s women’s track team won two events Saturday at the KSU Open. Freshman Angela Pichardo recorded the third-best 1,000-meter time in school history while winning in 2:53.20. The Jayhawks swept the top-four spots in that event as Pichardo was followed by Laura Lavoie, Arrah Nielsen and Jenna Bimbi.

Sophomore Lauren Brownrigg won the mile for KU in 5:08.32.

Freshman Abby Emsick was second in the shot put with a throw of 49-3 1/2, the third-best mark in school history.

For KU’s men, Luke Steinbrink (1:12.09) and Brandon Hodges (1:12.61) finished 1-2 in the 600-yard run.
