Kansas University plans to honor the seven astronauts who were killed in the Space Shuttle Columbia with a moment of silence at the KU-Missouri basketball game Monday night and again at noon Tuesday on KU’s three campuses.

A moment of silence will be observed Monday night immediately following the National Anthem at the Kansas-Missouri basketball game at Allen Fieldhouse. Tipoff is at 8 p.m.

KU’s Lawrence and Kansas City, Kan., campuses and the KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park will participate in the noon tribute on Tuesday, university officials announced.

At KU’s Lawrence campus, the moment of silence will be followed by the tolling of bells and a brief music program on the Memorial Campanile.

Flags on campus will continue to fly at half-staff.
