Hanover, N.H. ? Six players scored in double figures, helping Kansas University’s women’s basketball team roll to an 84-70 victory Tuesday over Fairfield in the consolation game of the Dartmouth Blue Sky Restaurant Classic.
The Jayhawks bolted to a 7-0 lead and enjoyed a 47-34 halftime edge, shooting 55.6 percent from the field in the half. The second half was nearly even, but KU’s lead was safe.
Sophomore Crystal Kemp and junior Blair Waltz each scored 14 to lead the Jayhawks (6-4). Sophomore Tamara Ransburg and freshman Lauren Ervin each added 13 points, while junior Larisha Graves and sophomore Erica Hallman each chipped in 10.
KU returns to action at 2 p.m. Saturday against San Diego in Allen Fieldhouse — the Jayhawks’ final non-conference game before opening the Big 12 Conference season Jan. 7 at home against Texas.
