In their first game since losing to unranked Nevada and falling out of the top 10, the Jayhawks had few problems with the Bearcats.

J.R. Giddens opened the game with a three-pointer, and the Jayhawks ran out to a 21-2 lead behind solid defense. Binghamton hit just one of its first 12 shots from the field in the first 12 minutes.

The Bearcats went on an 8-0 run over the next two minutes, but KU answered by closing the half with a 12-4 spurt. The Jayhawks opened the second half with a 7-2 run and continued holding off Binghamton, leading by as many as 38 points, 76-38.

Giddens had 16 points, seven rebounds and three steals for KU, Keith Langford had 14 points, and David Padgett had seven points, eight boards and five blocks. Aaron Miles scored four points and had seven assists for the Jayhawks, Jeff Hawkins had two points, and Wayne Simien finished with seven points.

Omar Wilkes had nine points, Moulaye Niang scored eight points and grabbed six boards, Jeremy Case had three points, and Jeff Graves had eight points before fouling out with 8:38 left.

Brandon Carter scored 14 points for Binghamton, and Nick Billings had eight points while playing most of the game in foul trouble.

Alex Adediran had six points, and Pat Schultz and Troy Hailey each scored two points. Six players — Robert Todd, Sebastian Hermenier, Billy Williams, Giovanni Olomo, Kevin Kloostra and Joe White — each had two points.

Kansas was 23-of-49 shooting, including 7-of-26 from three-point range. The Jayhawks were 25-of-30 shooting from the free-throw line.

Binghamton was 17-of-58 shooting from the field, and 5-of-18 shooting from long distance. The Bearcats hit seven of eight free throws.
