Konzem to leave post at KU

By World Online Staff     Aug 6, 2003

Kansas University announced Wednesday that Richard Konzem, KU’s senior associate athletics director, is leaving that position, effective immediately, to take on a new post at KU.

Konzem’s departure is part of a senior-level management reorganization within the athletics department. He will continue with the department as a special assistant to Lew Perkins, the director of athletics.

Perkins said he appreciated Konzem’s many contributions to KU athletics over a span of more than 22 years.

“First as a student and later as an administrator, Richard has been extremely loyal to this university and devoted to the overall success of the athletics program,” Perkins said in a prepared statement.

In his post as senior associate athletics director, Konzem was responsible for the day-to-day administration of the department. He reported to Perkins, who came to KU in July from the University of Connecticut.
