KU golf 8th at league

? Kansas University’s golf team placed eighth at the Big 12 Conference championships, which concluded Tuesday at Southern Hills Golf Course.

The Jayhawks, who were led by the third-place showing of senior Chris Marshall, totaled 929 strokes, finishing six strokes out of fifth place.

Texas, which won the team title for the second consecutive year, shot a three-round total of 894. Oklahoma State finished four strokes back of the Longhorns at 898. Oklahoma, the tournament leader after the first two rounds, finished at 899 strokes.

Marshall, who was in a tie for sixth after two rounds, shot a 4-over 74 in the third round, placing him in a tie for third with a total of 223.

KU freshman Pete Krsnich shot a final-day 79 and tied for 27th at 235. Freshman Ryan Rainer (236) tied for 31st after shooting his lowest score of the tournament, a 6-over 76. Andrew Price tied for 41st and Tyler Hall tied for 58th.
