? Caroline Smith scored two goals including the game-winner with two minutes left in regulation and assisted on the third as Kansas University upended Arkansas, 3-2, in college soccer on Friday.

“It wasn’t pretty but we got the win,” KU coach Mark Francis said.

Smith, a freshman from Edina, Minn., scored KU’s first goal, assisted by Carmel Kaplinger in the fifth minute, and Smith assisted on the second goal, Kaplinger’s score in the 46th minute.

But Arkansas rallied with a pair of goals by Julie Williford 10 minutes apart in the second half.

“We quit doing the things we were doing and they came back and tied it up,” Francis said.

But Smith beat the keeper and put the ball in the back of the net at the 87:40 mark to seal the victory for the Jayhawks. The goal was Smith’s team-leading fourth of the year and second game-winner this season.

The Jayhawks (3-1-1) will travel to Tulsa on Sunday.
