Kansas University won a pair of exhibition soccer games Sunday, defeating Tulsa, 1-0, and Oral Roberts, 8-1, in the KU Spring Tournament at SuperTarget Field.
The wins boost the Jayhawks’ spring record to 3-2-2.
In the first game, KU got the lone score on an own-goal by Tulsa when Jayhawk sophomore Rachel Gilfillan’s cross was deflected into Tulsa’s goal by a Golden Hurricane player.
In the nightcap, Kansas erupted for seven goals in the second period after battling Oral Roberts to a 1-all tie at halftime.
Freshman Caroline Smith scored four goals for the second time this spring for KU. Gilfillan was the other KU player with multiple goals, scoring two, and sophomore Amy Geha and junior Carmel Kaplinger each added a goal.
The Jayhawks will close the spring portion of their 2003 season Saturday. Kansas will face Arkansas and Tulsa in a doubleheader at the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex in Tulsa, Okla.
