Former Kansas University defensive end Ron Warner, who missed the first four games of the season while serving a suspension from the NFL for an undisclosed reason, has been released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Warner was suspended by Commissioner Paul Tagliabue on Sept. 1. He returned to practice last Wednesday, and the Bucs had one week to decide whether to activate him to the 53-man roster.

Warner was a second-year pro who spent last season on Tampa Bay’s practice squad. He was a seventh round draft choice of the New Orleans Saints in 1998.
