? The Kansas University men’s club soccer squad earned a pair of ties during day one of the National Club Soccer Tournament on Thursday.

The Jayhawks played to a 1-1 deadlock against Michigan in the first game. KU responded to a early-second half Wolverine score with a goal by sophomore Drew Darmon less than a minute later.

Aaron Law anchored the KU defense, limiting Michigan’s shots on goal.

Against Virginia in the second game, the Jayhawks bounced out to an early lead when Lawrence High grad Matt Lechtenberg booted a pass to teammate Johnny Kedzuf, who buried the ball into the back of the net.

Goalie Mike Kutz denied the Cavaliers until the game’s final minute when Virginia tied the score.

The Jayhawk squad plays Weber State today. A victory would advance Kansas to the championship round.
