Kansas University senior left fielder Christi Musser was named a third-team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Assn. on Wednesday night at the Women’s College World Series Banquet in Oklahoma City.

She’s the first Jayhawk to earn All-America honors since 1994.

“I am extremely pleased for Christi,” KU coach Tracy Bunge said. “She has put so much hard work in over the past four years. I couldn’t be more excited and happier for a player than I am for Christi Musser after all she’s been through.”

Musser, from Scottsdale, Ariz., finished with a team-best .370 batting average. She had 57 hits, nine home runs, nine doubles and 34 runs scored. She also stole 11 bases and committed just one error for a .984 fielding percentage.

The team MVP, Musser was a first-team All-Midwest Region pick and a second-team All-Big 12 selection.
