Gooden finalist for Wooden

Kansas University’s Drew Gooden is a member of the John R. Wooden Award All-America team and one of five finalists for the prestigious Wooden Award, it was announced Wednesday.

The 26th-annual Wooden Award will be presented to the college basketball player of the year on April 7 during the Fox Sports Net telecast live from the Los Angeles Athletic Club.

As one of the top five vote getters, Gooden and KU coach Roy Williams will be invited to Los Angeles to participate in Wooden Award weekend activities, including serving as honorary coaches at the Inner-City Games Basketball Tournament and attending the live telecast and the Wooden Award Gala.

Other finalists were Dan Dickau, Gonzaga; Juan Dixon, Maryland; Steve Logan, Cincinnati; and Jason Williams, Duke.
