Waco, Texas ? Baylor capitalized on an unearned run in the bottom of the third inning to eke out a 1-0 Big 12 softball victory over Kansas on Sunday.
With one out in the third, BU’s Kim Wilmoth singled and stole second. BU’s Kelly Levesque reached first when she was hit by a Serena Settlemier pitch. Wilmoth and Levesque advanced to third and second respectively on a double steal. Settlemier intentionally walked Sarah Caudle to load the bases and Wilmoth scored on an error by Jayhawk shortstop Sandy Smith.
Kansas (17-12 overall, 2-2 Big 12) threatened BU (33-8, 4-1) in the top of the fourth. The Jayhawks had the bases loaded with one out before BU pitcher Cristin Vitek (15-3) struck out the next two batters.
