Kansas and Texas Tech to meet in semifinals

? Kansas and Texas Tech will square off in Saturday’s semifinal round of the Big 12 men’s basketball tournament at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Mo.

In Friday’s qualifying games, No. 1 Kansas trampled Colorado, 101-73, and Texas Tech upended No. 13 Oklahoma State, 73-51.

KU will face Texas Tech at 1 p.m. Saturday. At their last meeting, KU ran over the Red Raiders, 108-81. (See story.)

Friday’s KU-Colorado game was the 11th time this season that KU (28-2) scored more than 100 points. The Jayhawks topped the century mark on Jeff Carey’s 10th point of the game.

Kansas came out in early action with its usual quick pace, jumping out to a large lead. At halftime KU was up 53-35. The Jayhawks led by as many as 32 points during the game.

Jeff Boschee led the Jayhawks in scoring, hitting four three-pointers in the first half and finishing the game with 21 points.
