Kansas University’s football team recently secured nonbinding oral commitments from tight end Brandon Perkins, linebacker Kevin Kane and wide receiver Mark Simmons.

With the additions, the list of KU’s known commitments has soared to 21.

Perkins, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound tight end from Houston Aldine Eisenhower High, chose Kansas over Texas Tech, Colorado State and New Mexico after visiting Lawrence during the weekend.

Kane, a two-time all-state selection, made more than 110 tackles for Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst High this season. The 6-2, 228-pound linebacker also opted for Kansas after visiting last weekend. He had been receiving interest from Boston College and Colorado State.

Simmons, a 5-11, 175-pound receiver from DeSoto (Texas), selected Kansas after decommiting from Oklahoma State. He also was being pursued by Georgia Tech. List of KU commitments on page 8C.
