Nebraska received seven of a possible nine first-place votes in the coaches’ poll and edged Oklahoma. The Sooners received two first-place votes and Texas, third in the poll, garnered one.
Kansas, which tied for third last season, was fourth in the poll followed by Texas A&M, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Missouri and Iowa State.
