The Sears Cup presented by the nation’s athletics directors is a trophy given at year’s end to the school with the most success in all sports. Points are awarded based on each school’s finish in up to 20 sports 10 each for men and women. National champions are awarded 100 points.
In the final fall standings, KU was tied for last, or 118th, with 37 other schools with 20 points. Kansas’ women’s soccer team scored KU’s only points by qualifying for its first NCAA Tournament.
Stanford leads after the fall semester with 521 points. Colorado leads the Big 12 with a fourth-place showing with 251 points. The final fall standings are made by placings in women’s and men’s cross country, field hockey, football, women and men’s soccer, women’s volleyball and men’s water polo.
