Ames, Iowa ? The Kansas women’s swimming and diving team closed out its regular season Saturday, falling to Iowa State in a dual meet, 153-147.
The loss, which drops the Jayhawks to 7-4 overall in dual meet competitions this season, was KU’s second in as many days after losing to Iowa on Friday.
Junior Gwen Haley paced Kansas, winning the 500 free and the 200 fly. Junior Beth Schryer placed first in the 1000 free while freshman Jackie Krueger won the 50 free.
Freshman standout Amy Gruber continued a fine first-year campaign as she captured the 100 free.
In the diving portion, Rebecca McFall captured both the one-meter and three-meter competitions to lead the Jayhawks. McFall posted a season-best score of 502.70 on the 3-meter board.
This was the Jayhawk’s final regular season meet before gearing up and traveling to College Station, Texas, for the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships, Feb. 18-24.
