Kansas Football inks two junior college players

The University of Kansas football team signed two junior college players to national letters-of-intent, coach Mark Mangino announced on Thursday. Wide receiver Lyonel Anderson and offensive lineman Joe Vaughn will join the team in the spring semester.

Anderson is a 6-3, 230-pound wide receiver from Rochester, N.Y., who has spent the past two seasons at Alfred State College in Alfred, N.Y. Last season, Anderson was a NJCAA preseason All-American and was named to the NYC all-conference team.

“He is a big strong receiver that can go up for the ball,” Mangino said of Anderson. “He brings some size to our core receivers.”

Vaughn is a 6-2, 290-pound offensive lineman from Northeast Oklahoma. Vaughn, who will play center for the Jayhawks, was named a NJCAA second team All-American in early December.

“Joe is a very good player,” Mangino said. “We are excited to have him.”
