Collison, an alternate/practice player on the USA World Championship team roster who was not assured of playing time when accepting his position with the team, found the going rough in his first game with NBA players. He had his only two shots blocked by 7-foot-5 Chinese sensation Yao Ming.
Collison did grab two rebounds, was called for one foul and had a turnover and an assist.
Former Jayhawk forward Raef LaFrentz missed four of five shots and had two points, while ex-Jayhawk Paul Pierce hit three of nine shots and scored eight points for the U.S, which next will meet Germany in an exhibition on Sunday in Portland.
