? Former Kansas University track All-American Scott Russell placed second in the javelin Wednesday at the Commonwealth Games.

Russell earned the silver medal his first medal at an international meet with a throw of 2591â2 feet, his second best throw of the year.

Russell, a native of Windsor, Ontario, was outdistanced by England’s Steve Backley, who threw 284-7. Nick Neiland of England won the bronze with a throw of 257-10.
