? Kansas University’s women’s soccer team blanked host San Diego, 1-0, Sunday to win the San Diego State Invitational.

After a scoreless first half, KU senior forward Hilla Rantala broke away from the pack in the 59th minute for an unassisted goal.

The win marked Kansas’ first shutout. Freshman Meghan Miller had one save in 90 minutes.

“One of the things we are most happy about is that we shut them out,” said KU coach Mark Francis. “It was our goal going in not to let them score. I thought our defense played very well, even though our offense did not create as many chances as we had in previous games.”

KU’s Rantala scored three goals in the tourney.

KU, 3-1, will next meet Saint Louis at 4 p.m. Friday at SuperTarget Field.
