Jayhawks blank Colorado

? Senior Natalie Hoogveld recorded a hat trick, and Kansas University shut down Colorado in a 4-0 victory Sunday at the Pleasant View Soccer Complex.

Senior Hilla Rantala added two assists for KU, which set a school record with its ninth victory of the season.

Hoogveld scored the first of her three goals on an assist from Rantala in the 18th minute of the game. Four minutes later, she took a feed from freshman defender Stacy Leeper and put it in the back of the net for the 2-0 KU lead. Hoogveld and Rantala hooked up again at 59:59.

Freshman Monica Brothers closed out the scoring in the 80th minute.

Rantala set a school record for assists in a season with nine. The Jayhawks’ captain now holds season-best marks for points (25), goals (eight) and assists (nine).

KU (9-3-0 overall, 5-1-0 Big 12) plays host to No. 10 Texas A&M at 4 p.m. Friday at SuperTarget Field and No. 20 Texas at 1 p.m. Sunday.
