Former Kansas University basketball player Eric Chenowith has not been invited to the New York Knicks’ veteran training camp.

The Knicks renounced the rights to their second-round draft pick, a 7-foot-1 center from Orange, Calif., who played for New York’s summer league team and worked out with Knicks’ coaches in New York most of the summer.

Chenowith told New York Newsday he likely will play in Europe this upcoming season.

Meanwhile, former Kansas guard/forward Kenny Gregory, who was not selected in the 2001 Draft, said he will attend the United States Developmental League draft camp, which starts late this month in Atlanta.

The NBDL season begins in mid-November and runs until March. Players will be selected from the pool of athletes invited to the draft camp.

Former Kansas University forward Milt Newton is director of player personnel in the eight-team minor league, which is affiliated with the NBA.
