KU women rout Mayaguez

? Three Kansas University players scored in double figures and all 12 Jayhawks scored in a 93-42 women’s basketball rout of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez in a consolation game of the Puerto Rico Shootout on Saturday at the Coliseum Angulo.

Nikki White led the Jayhawks (2-2) with 14 points in 15 minutes, while Selena Scott added 13 points and Sharonnpencer contributed 10

Kansas hit 20 of its 33 field goal attempts for 60.6 percent in storming to a 51-22 halftime lead.

Mayaguez (0-2) hit just six of 21 attempts in the first half (28.6 percent) and hit 12 of 41 overall (29.3 percent).

Kansas also had a huge rebounding edge, 52-23.

KC Hilgenkamp had four of Kansas’ 16 steals, and the Jayhawks forced 24 turnovers while having just 11 turnovers themselves.

Madeline Ramirez and Sheila Moura led Mayaguez with 10 points apiece.

Kansas will face Central Florida in the consolation bracket finals at noon today.
