Wayne Simien to be out 2-4 weeks.

University of Kansas freshman forward Wayne Simien will miss 2-4 weeks of action due to hyperextension of the left knee, KU coach Roy Williams announced on Thursday.

Simien, a 6-foot-9 Leavenworth native, hyperextended his knee in practice Wednesday night. He had an MRI, which revealed some loose cartilage. He then underwent arthroscopic surgery Thursday afternoon at the Lawrence Surgery Center.

“Here’s a kid that if you look at the stats he was our leading scorer in two exhibition games and one of our leading rebounders,” Williams said. “He’s a youngster with some size and muscle up front so it changes things a great deal.”
