Despite not having a permanent head coach in place for next season, Kansas University’s football team has managed to lure one of the top in-state recruits.
Nick Reid, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound quarterback from Derby, orally committed to the Jayhawks over Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Missouri and Texas Tech.
“Although being recruited by several Big 12 schools and many schools outside the Big 12, Nick feels like he can be an immediate impact player for KU,” Reid’s father, Walter, told Jon Kirby of online recruiting service MoKanFootball. “Irregardless of who the new head coach is, KU’s academic tradition, the atmosphere of the city of Lawrence and the honest way that coach Sam Pittman and former head coach Terry Allen recruited him, made a very positive impression.
“By announcing early, Nick hopes he can help KU with its recruiting and can contribute to increased success in the years to come.”
According to MoKan Football’s latest rankings, Reid is the top quarterback in Kansas. He also is the 22nd-rated QB prospect in the nation according to Rivals.com.
