SAN ANTONIO ? Missouri bounced Kansas out of the Big 12 women’s soccer tournament with a 1-0, double-overtime victory here Thursday.
The match was decided on a penalty kick in the 111th minute when the Tigers’ Karen Bauer knocked the ball past KU goalkeeper Meghan Miller and into the net to end the game.
“It was a great game,” KU coach Mark Francis said. “We had chances but so did they when they hit those two (shots) off the post. It’s disappointing to lose like this on a penalty kick, but it has been a great season.”
KU dropped to 13-6 while Missouri improved to 13-7. The Jayhawks will learn Monday whether they will be selected to the NCAA tournament. The NCAA bracket will be released at 2:30 p.m. Monday.
Missouri outshot the Jayhawks, 21-12. Senior forward Melanie Schroeder led Kansas with three shots, two on goal.
The loss marked the first time this season the Jayhawks fell to an unranked team.
Kansas entered the tournament on a four-game shutout victory streak.
