Kansas University’s second varsity eight boat placed third at Sunday’s NCAA Central Regional championships.
The second varsity eight, which finished behind Texas and Tennessee, was timed in the petite final in 7:03. Team members were Jasmin Smith, Chris Corbett, Shannon Gribbin, Gretchen Schmidt, Erin Harrington, Tawnya Bach, Alane Thomas, Ali Brox and Tiffany Marquart).
KU’s first novice eight boat had the best showing in the grand finals for KU, placing fourth in 7:01.8. Michigan (6:53.7), Minnesota (6:55.6) and North Carolina (6:59.7) finished ahead of the Jayhawks. Team members were Lindsay Abbott, Hayley Dool, Laura Adamson, Luci Lyon, Beth Olson, Kelsey Stover, Amber Snyder, Kristen Reynolds and Jessica Watson.
Kansas boats placed sixth in first varsity eight and first varsity four grand finals.
First varsity eight team members were Jen Page, Heather Muir, Beth Hickey, Jen Van Ruyven, Dana Parsons, Andrea Buch, Stephanie Mahal, Lauren Royall and Casey Smith. First varsity four members wereAngie Kratochvil, Galina Levin, Sara Stuart, Chelsea Carlin and Mary Koboldt.
Michigan won the first novice eight, second varsity four, first varsity four, second varsity eight and first varsity eight grand finals en route to the overall team title with 120 points.
