John Hadl, Kansas University’s associate athletics director for development since 1992, isn’t interested in succeeding Bob Frederick as KU athletics director.

Hadl, 61, said he has been encouraged by many supporters to apply for the vacancy.

“Certainly it would be a dream of mine to lead this athletics department,” Hadl said. “But I love what I’m doing right now, and I have made the decision I want to continue in this role.”

Hadl, a two-time All-America football player for the Jayhawks (1960-61), works closely with the Williams Educational Fund in seeking donors for special projects.

“I want to be here and to offer my full support for our new athletics director,” Hadl said.
