Ashburn, Va. ? Pepper Rodgers, the Washington Redskins’ vice president of football operations, is recovering from triple bypass heart surgery.
Rodgers, 68, had the procedure Thursday after doctors discovered a potential blockage during a physical examination the day before. The Redskins said Friday that Rodgers was told by doctors he can expect a full recovery, and that he intends to return to work with the next few weeks.
Rodgers, hired Dec. 4, was a successful college coach at Kansas, UCLA and Georgia Tech. He later coached Memphis teams in the United States Football League and the Canadian Football League and lobbied in the city’s unsuccessful bid for an NFL expansion franchise.
