KU golf wins

? Kansas University’s men’s golf team survived cold, windy conditions to claim the Stevinson Ranch Invitational crown for the second consecutive year Tuesday at Stevinson Ranch Golf Club.

The Jayhawks, who carded a 302 during the final round, finished the 54-hole event with a total of 899 strokes. KU notched its third victory of the season.

KU junior Travis Hurst posted his second victory by carding a 1-under-par 71 during the final round for a total of 213.

“It was very windy and conditions were not good,” KU coach Ross Randall said. “We certainly did not play our best, but it is nice to have both a team and individual win. I am very pleased.

Team scores: Kansas 899, Colorado 904, California 906, Tulsa 910, Pacific 210, Nebraska 931, Southwest Missouri State 939, Illinois State 939, Kansas State 940, Missouri 944, Iowa State 952, Drake 956, Northern Iowa 960, Air Force 980.
