The winner of tonight’s KU-CSN game meets either Hawaii or Syracuse at 11:10 a.m. Sunday.

KU is 59-29 in 29 NCAA Tournaments. KU has played in 10 Final Fours and won the NCAA title in both 1952 and ’88. KU is playing in its 12th straight tourney, which ranks fifth among active streaks.

KU has won 17 straight first-round NCAA Tourney games. Last time KU lost an NCAA opener was March 11, 1978 an 83-76 loss to UCLA in Eugene, Ore.

Cal State Northridge is making its first tourney appearance. The Matadors are riding a seven-game win streak. KU has dropped one after winning five straight.

This is the first meeting between the schools.

KU is 4-0 all time against teams from the Big Sky Conference. KU is 54-21 against schools from California and 5-4 versus schools from California in the NCAAs.

Although the Jayhawks and Matadors have not met in basketball, KU’s football team beat Northridge, 71-14, on Sept. 19, 1999.
