Missouri nips Kansas, 1-0

? Missouri scored a run with two hits and a stolen base in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge Kansas University, 1-0, in Big 12 baseball on Sunday.

With one out in the seventh, designated hitter Kurt Propst singled to center. W.T. Hoover ran for Propst, stole second and scored on Luke Cassis’ double to center.

KU junior Justin Wilcher (1-2) was the losing pitcher. He allowed five hits and struck out five in seven innings.

The Jayhawks (8-9 overall, 2-7 Big 12) managed six hits. Right fielder Jesse Gremminger and center fielder Jason Appuhn had two hits apiece to lead KU. One of Appuhn’s hits was a double.

The Jayhawks stranded five runners and hit into two double plays.

MU improved to 7-8-1 overall and 3-6 in the Big 12. The Tigers won their series with KU, two games to one. The Jayhawks won the opener Friday in Lawrence.

The Jayhawks are scheduled to play Illinois-Chicago at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hoglund Ballpark.
