Former Jayhawk, Redskin dies

Doyle Schick, a Lawrence native and Kansas University graduate who played for the Washington Redskins in the 1960s, died Tuesday in Olathe.

Schick graduated from Kansas University in 1961 and had been co-captain of the football team and captain of the baseball team. He played for the Redskins in 1961 and 1962. Schick was an all-around athlete at Lawrence High School and earned high school All-America honors as a fullback. He and John Hadl, a KU and LHS All-America, starred together at Lawrence High and KU.
