Chenowith struggles in pro debut

? Former Kansas center Eric Chenowith had a rough professional debut on Monday night.

Chenowith, a 7-footer from Villa Park, Calif., missed six of seven shots, scoring five points with two rebounds in the New York Knicks’ 72-65 summer league loss to the Celtics. Fellow second round pick Michael Wright had six points on 2-of-6 shooting with six boards.

The Knicks on Monday cut former KU and Arizona player Ben Davis from their summer league roster. The 6-8 forward played in a total of 15 games for the Knicks during the 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons.

In other Knicks’ news, forward Larry Johnson may retire because of a sore lower back.
