Jayhawks escape Boulder with a win: 85-75

Kansas spent most of the game in unfamiliar territory: behind. Down 43-40 at the half, KU finally evened the score at 71 with 5:36 left in the game. Colorado wouldn’t score again until there were just 26.8 seconds on the clock. By that time, the score no longer relfected the nature of the game.

In a back-and-forth contest with several lead changes, the Colorado Buffaloes exploited their home court advantage and energy. The teams traded runs, but CU ended up with the last of the momentum heading into the lockers. Jeff Boschee’s four first half three-pointers very much kept KU in the game.

Throughout the second half the game stayed close, with CU’s lead never stretching beyond seven points. Kansas battled back, eventually taking the lead and sealing the victory with strong defense late.

Jeff Boschee led KU scoring with 21 points. Kenny Gregory put in 16, Nick Collison added 15 and Eric Chenowith scored 12. Drew Gooden ended up with a double-double, with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Kirk Hinrich tied the game with a three-pointer, and gave KU the lead a few seconds later. He ended with 9 points and 11 assists.
